Claude Dispatch Unlocks Cowork Anywhere — But watch out for these two problems.

I’ve been testing Claude’s new Dispatch feature for the past few days, and it’s genuinely useful — but only if you know what to watch for. The promise is simple: you can fire off a task to CoWork from your phone, your laptop at a coffee shop, wherever you are, and have it execute on your main desktop rig back home. No need to be physically at your workstation.

That flexibility is a big deal if you’re like me and think of tasks at weird times. But I kept running into situations where I’d send something from my phone and then… nothing. Just silence. So I made this video to show you exactly how Dispatch works in practice, and to flag the two problems that will trip you up if you don’t know they’re there.

How Dispatch sends tasks to CoWork remotely

The core mechanic is straightforward. You’re working in Claude on any device — mobile, browser, doesn’t matter — and you tell it to dispatch a task to your desktop. If your desktop CoWork session is running and listening, it picks up the job and executes it. I demonstrate this in the video by sending a real task from my phone while I’m away from my desk, then showing it appear and run on my desktop instance.

The two problems? First, your desktop has to be awake and already running a CoWork session. If it’s asleep or if CoWork isn’t active, the task just sits in limbo. Second, if you don’t explicitly tell Claude to use Dispatch, it won’t — you have to be clear in your prompt. These aren’t dealbreakers, but they’re not obvious until you’ve wasted time wondering why nothing’s happening.
